DAISY PATTON--This is not a Photo, a group exhibition at Curtis Center for the Arts
In his piece “Ceci N’est Pas Une Pipe”, artists Rene Magritte points out the arbitrary relationship between an object and its name. This was Magritte's way of saying that, "an image is not be confused with something tangible". In this exhibit, “This is Not a Photo” three artists challenge what is considered a “photo”. Using photographs as a foundry, these artists work in non-traditional mediums like acrylic, steel and paint to push the boundaries of traditional photography.
