SPARK! Vienna 2025 | Andrew Jensdotter | Booth H2

K Contemporary is proud to offer a solo exhibition at SPARK! Vienna 2025, featuring the work of Andrew Jensdotter.  His acclaimed “carved paintings” comprise over 100 layers of painted images sourced from Google image searches, meticulously carved to expose fragments of the layers beneath. The result is raw, abstract color fields that evoke the visual static of collective memory, forming a unique, composite image of its own. The final painting follows the course of art history, moving from representational to abstract and creating a visual analog for the processing of information in the age of mass media. Andrew's new paintings are rooted in the following Jungian archetypes: The Creative, The Innocent, The Mystic, The Rebel, The Jester, and The Queen. In recognition of SPARK! art fair's Austrian location, at least one figure in each of his six, new paintings is of Austro-Hungarian descent. For example, underpaintings in The Queen include Maria Theresa, Queen of Bohemia, Hungary, and the Holy Roman Empire as well as Empress Elizabeth (Sisi) of Austria.

SPARK! Art Fair Vienna is the only international art fair focusing exclusively on solo presentations. Its unique model democratizes the playing field by providing each participating gallery with the same-size booth and architectural orientation.  The vastness of the exhibition hall and the booths’ open structure pave the way for a deeper and more personal encounter with each featured artist, simulating a mini museum exhibition.  As such, gallerists are perceived more strongly in their role as developers and presenters, enabling collectors and art enthusiasts to engage on a more profound level with individual contemporary artists.

NOTE: Andrew Jensdotter will be in attendance at SPARK! 2025. Please stop by K Contemporary's booth H2 to meet him.
