Daisy Patton assembles her first-ever exhibition of paintings devoted exclusively to the subject of family portraiture. A lush new series of polychromatic paintings on top of large-scale photographs, these poignant works challenge personal assumptions about unconditional love, familial obligation, the desire for belonging, tradition, generational trauma, construction of memory, and a longing for certainty coupled with acceptance of the unknown.

As the daughter of an absent Iranian father and a white mother uncomfortable discussing Patton's lineage, the artist's family history is as oblique and undiscoverable as that of the sitters' in her work.  The exhibition holds space for boundless manifestations of what families look like while laying bare Patton's own open-ended search for meaning, reconciliation, and healing.
