Carlene Frances - Seijaku

Aug 4, 2018 - Aug 25, 2018

Carlene Frances - Seijaku

Opening Reception: Saturday, August 4, 6-9 pm.

Exhibitions run through August 25.

In the realm of minimalism, less is more. “Seijaku” is the latest exhibition by Carlene Frances, an internationally esteemed abstract minimalist, in which the artist reveals the depth of possibilities through “less”.

“Seijaku” is the Japanese principle of serenity in the midst of activity or chaos. Frances will describe this powerful concept using a visual vocabulary expressed in elemental palettes, fundamental shapes and serene composition.

Despite the focus on simplicity in her work, far beneath the surface of the tranquil images reminiscent of reeds reflected in deep water, an irresistible drama of light and shadow lure the spectator into mysterious depths.
